Our Story

Engineering at Oxford sparked Gus's fascination with legacy industries resistant to change. Despite high margins and clear opportunities for innovation, legal services remained stubbornly manual. This insight led him from Oxford's engineering labs to Clifford Chance, with stops at several legal teams where he witnessed firsthand how in-house lawyers were drowning in routine work.

The Catalyst

At Entrepreneur First, a pivotal partnership formed. Alex Wang, fresh from his role as a quant researcher at D.E. Shaw, had already demonstrated extraordinary technical prowess. A Cambridge Mathematics and Computer Science graduate, Alex had single-handedly built and shipped a full-stack LLM application in the consumer space at breakneck speed. He saw legal as the perfect industry for AI transformation - complex, high-value, and ready for change.
